At TNT, we regularly evaluate the outcomes of our treks. Founder David Victorson is an outcomes researcher at Northwestern University and therefore TNT is equipped to collect and analyze program evaluation data in a purposeful and systematic manner. We have previously presented our program outcomes at the premier national adolescent and young adult research conference, Critical Mass.
Through administration of pre and post trek quantitative surveys with all of our participants, we have demonstrated that our treks significantly increase a sense of social connectedness with others, increase interest and satisfaction with spending time in nature, and increase one's confidence, or self-efficacy, to practice mindfulness meditation back home after the trek has finished.
In addition to these quantitative measures, we also gather participants' qualitative testimonials about their experiences. Time and again, participants report experiencing a profound, life-changing, "deep impact" from their treks, and for many, this stays with them long after their trek is finished.
