This September 8th -12th we're heading to Northern Montana for our inaugural trek! Limited space is still available, so please contact us (info@truenorthtreks.org) if you're interested in participating. ****************************************************************************************** Find Your True North A cancer diagnosis and its treatment can demagnetize one's life compass and lead to an unknown path that was neither expected nor desired. Things like school, work, social activities, emotional health, relationships or career plans can all become interfered with or altered. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, family and friends, there are simply times when a person with cancer can feel lost or "dis-oriented." At True North Treks we help adolescent and young adult cancer survivors learn ways to become re-oriented, set new coordinates and chart a new course through short term experiences in nature centered around the training of "survival skills for survivors." Transitioning from a treatment room or medical facility to camping gear and a remote trail head, True North Treks participants engage in an innovative experiential learning curriculum that facilitates the cultivation of Mindful Awareness Practices and Outdoor Leadership Skills Training.

Unlike grid north or magnetic north, True North is marked in the skies by the position of the North star. For centuries it has been used for celestial navigation by seafarers and explorers to help them determine their whereabouts and cross featureless oceans without having to rely on random chance. Ironically, True North is in constant flux, just like us. By helping adolescent and young adult cancer survivors find, access and rely on their True North, we believe one can more fully and intentionally navigate life's ever-changing landscape and blaze the unforged trails of survivorship with a new compass in hand, head and heart. Don't rely on random chance with your direction. Explore inside to begin your True North Trek.
